Paramount Pictures has ended its relationship with Tom Cruise, formerly one of the company’s most bankable stars. Sumner Redstone, whose company owns Paramount, said the studio would sever its 14-year relationship with Cruise’s film production company.
“As much as we like him personally, we thought it was wrong to renew his deal,” Mr. Redstone told The Wall Street Journal. “His recent conduct has not been acceptable to Paramount.”
The deal in recent years paid Cruise and partner Paula Wagner up to $10 million a year to develop films and operate an office on the Paramount lot, according to the Journal via the Associated Press.
