2008 wasn’t Christina Applegate’s best year, being the year she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but on Wednesday night (January 7) it was her night to shine as she took home the award for Favorite Female Star at the 35th Annual People’s Choice Awards.
She thanked her fans for supporting her saying: “Thanks to all of you for the incredible amount of love and support you’ve given me over the last few months. It has not gone unnoticed and it was really needed. So thank you from the bottom of my heart.” Applegate’s show “Samantha Who?” was nominated in the Favorite TV Comedy category but lost out to “Two and a Half Men.”
Applegate says the win couldn’t have come at a better time and admits that she needed it. “When this happened it really meant a lot to me that people took the time to go on there and click [their computers], especially right now. Good news was really in the cards for me. I really needed it.”
As for her wish for 2009 Applegate says: “It was really about joy. Joy is a big thing and opening myself up to the upswing of life and being joyful and healthy and that’s really it.”
