Naughty girl Nicole Richie’s trial regarding her December DUI arrest has been rescheduled for August 16, and the court has ordered that she be present.

The trial was originally scheduled to take place on Wednesday. However, after a meeting with Richie’s attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, Commissioner Steven K. Lubell granted Holley’s request for a continuance because Dr. Terence McGee, a drug expert who is going to testify on Richie’s behalf, is out of the country and wouldn’t be able to appear in court until August 6, at the earliest.

“He can speak to the lack of reliability of urinalysis testing,” Holley told Lubell. “He is crucial to her defense. If he is believed, and I believe he will be, than Richie will be acquitted.”

Lubell doesn’t plan on budging on the August 16 hearing.

“I am ordering Richie to be here on that date,” Lubell said. “And I would like the trial to start on that date.”

According to TMZ, Nicole Richie is definitely pregnant with Joel Madden’s child. I don’t know who their sources are, but TMZ and In Touch Magazine are both reporting that Richie and Madden are expecting and are also getting married this summer, pre-baby, of course.

Now is all of this happening because Nicole is trying to avoid time behind bars? She is currently facing DUI charges stemming from her arrest last December, when she was found driving the wrong way on a California highway. Richie’s trial is set for July 11. If convicted, she faces a minimum of five days in jail.

Richie’s rep did not return repeated calls for comment.

Nicole Richie sure does look tired in these pictures, taken at LAX a few days ago, practically hugging her pillow and keeping snug and comfy while making her way through the airport to get her luggage. It’s a good way to hide from the paparazzi too. Next up for Miss Richie, court! Yep, this is the month where she will find out if she will be headed to jail, just like best pal Paris Hilton.

On her celebrity status:
“I don’t have a clue why I’m famous. I didn’t make myself famous… You’re doing it. I think people just want to say, ‘Oh, she doesn’t have a job she doesn’t do anything.’ They get off on that. But I do have a job, like everyone else.”

Oh her past drug use:
“When I pictured heroin, I pictured some crazy crackhead with no shoes under a bridge. You never think that is going to be you. And it never was me. I was never under a bridge, and I always had shoes.”

On being a role model:
“I don’t walk around pretending that I’m perfect, so I don’t think anyone should hold me to that. The dangerous thing is that there are 16, 17, 18 year olds that people consider to be role models. I’m so happy I wasn’t famous back then. You’d think I was the f***ing devil.”

Nicole Richie is reportedly pregnant, and pretty happy about it — Rumors are going around that she may avoid going to jail, if there’s a little bun in the oven. Nicole is set to appear in court possibly this month for driving her car under the influence of painkillers and marijuana, but she believes her being pregnant might give her a better chance at staying out of jail — unlike best pal Paris Hilton. Miss Nicole Richie showed up to support her friend, Kidada Jones, at her “Kidada for Disney Coutour” Party, held in Bel Air a few days ago.

Nicole Richie is pictured above leaving what appears to be a gas station, there’s just one problem — on her way out Nicole hit a car, and it was of course all caught on tape by the paparazzi, so, yeah not good. But on to the funny stuff; In Touch Weekly has reportedly got a hold of an email that Nicole sent out to her friends, inviting them over for a Memorial Day party. In the email Nicole writes:

There will be a scale at the front door. No girls over 100 pounds allowed in. Start starving yourself now.

Nicole Richie is reportedly back to her old ways of not eating much. The super skinny socialite was spotted at a supermarket, a couple of days ago, looking quite unwell. Miss Richie is reportedly also not talking to her mother at the moment, Brenda. Brenda is apparently in the hospital and Nicole has refused to visit her.
