Mischa Barton

Mischa Barton was arrested in West Hollywood early Thursday morning, authorities confirm to People magazine.

Barton was pulled over at 2:46 a.m. after her vehicle was seen straddling two lanes of traffic and she failed to signal when making a turn, according to an L.A. County Sheriff Department statement released Thursday. She was arrested for DUI and driving without a valid license.

“During Ms. Barton’s detention, it was determined that she was an unlicensed driver and was driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage,” according to police. “Ms. Barton was arrested and transported to West Hollywood Sheriff’s station where the booking process was completed without incident.”

The actress was held in police custody, with a bail of $10,000, until approximately 10 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.Initially, police also said she’d been arrested for possession of illegal narcotics, but no more details were available.

A representative for Barton did not immediately return a request for comment.

The 20-year-old star played Marissa Cooper on the teen series and died in a car accident at the end of the last season. When asked if she was surprised that the show had been axed she told Fox News, “No. They killed me off.” When asked if she had been one of the main reasons that fans tuned into the show, she added, “That’s what I think they discovered.”

Miserable Mischa

Mischa Barton is a very unhappy person these days, for it seems that after her character on the hit TV show ‘The OC’ was killed off at the end of last season, she has been dealing with a spot of depression.

A source revealed that the actress felt as if her career had been spiraling downhill ever since she decided to walk away from the show.

“Mischa is miserable since she left ‘the O.C.’ She feels like her life is over and everything is going downhill…She acts like she has nothing to live for,” the Bosh quoted the source, as saying.

The source also said that her bad mood was souring her relationship with musician Cisco Adler. Barton has reportedly pestered her boyfriend for a commitment, and threatened to walk out of the relationship if he did not give her a ring.

However, the only ring that Adler presented her with was a promise ring, as he was not ready to get engaged.

“Later she became hyper emotional and started acting crazy again, when Adler asked for some time off she threatened to kill herself and their dog. These threats made him to pretend to work out things and would not let her down. He’s hoping she’ll come to her senses and won’t do anything violent or vindictive. But he wants out,” the source said.

The couple has been plagued by rumors of a split, especially as they have not been photographed together for a long time now.
