Leona Lewis secures $10 million US record deal!
Leona Lewis has secured a $10 million record deal in the US.
The ‘X Factor’ winner is set to conquer America after signing a deal with Clive Davis.
The 74-year-old music mogul made Whitney Houston a worldwide singing sensation, and also mentors Alicia Keys and Justin Timberlake.
Leona told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper: “It’s great news. I am just overwhelmed. I can’t believe everything has happened so fast, from winning ‘X Factor’ to coming to LA.
“It’s everything I ever dreamed of - and more.”
The former London receptionist celebrated her mega deal by wowing US music executives at a showcase where she preformed ‘Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word’, ‘Over The Rainbow’ and ‘Summertime’.
One impressed music executive in the audience said: “It’s like hearing the love child of Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey.”
The 21-year-old will release five albums worldwide through Clive’s label J Records.
Simon Cowell said: “Leona is the best ‘X Factor’ contestant ever.
“We’ll do everything in our power to make her an international star. I’ve always said that she is the next Whitney Houston and I believe it.”
A source added: “Leona showed the world’s best what she is made of and they loved it. International producers are now falling over themselves to persuade her to work with them.
“The plan is to take time and produce an album which has global reach - and Leona’s first album is going to be worth waiting for.”
