With rumors swirling over the net about singer Kelly Clarkson’s reported struggle with an eating disorder, let’s not forget the Idol left that behind long ago.
Apparently, ‘Miss Independence’ felt pressured to slim down after she lost out at an audition to a less talented rival because of her weight, before American Idol discovered the singer.

Kelly is quoted as saying, “When I was younger, I tried out for a part and this other girl beat me who was not as musically gifted as me. She couldn’t really sing, but she was beautiful and they wanted her for the part. That really upset me, and I had a time for a while when I didn’t eat a lot because it was disturbing, and I was so young… but I snapped out of it pretty quick.”

“I’m a very spiritual person and I believe that God has so much more to offer than that kind of Hollywood life …. But I just think you are who you are, and millions of people love me the way I am.”

Kelly Clarkson has revealed the reasons behind her recent breakup with boyfriend Graham Colton, telling Us Weekly that after touring together during her 2005 concert tour, a long-distance relationship just wasn’t working for the couple.

“He was in the studio, and we didn’t even see each other. We were both like, ‘This Doesn’t make sense,’” the original American Idol winner explained to the magazine.

However although the couple has ended their seven month relationship, Clarkson says she remains good friends with the 23-year-old lead singer of the Graham Colton Band that served as her 2005 tour’s opening act. “If something is at a standstill, you might as well save the relationship as a friendship,” the 23-year-old recent double Grammy Award winner told Us.

Clarkson also isn’t ruling out the possibility that the couple might get back together down the road. “I love him to death. Who knows? In the future we might get back together. But if I’m not going to get to hang out or make out, I don’t really want to date.”

There’s no rest for Kelly Clarkson. Following her double-Grammy award winning bonanza, Kelly is back on the road, rocking out around Europe, AND working on material for her third album at the same time. She’s also just shot the video for her next single, the fabulous ‘Walk Away’.
Kelly Clarkson is one busy lady. Not content with simply playing shows around Europe, she’s actually had a recording studio installed in her tour bus and has been writing new songs with her touring band.
“I’ve been writing with them for the past two years and we finally decided, ‘Let’s just nail it down. We’ve got great songs that we’ve been doing together, why don’t we just go ahead,’” Kelly told MTV. “And everybody who has heard them has been loving it, so I’m down. I like doing that. I like keeping it in the family if it’s good.”

When in Oz recently, Kelly even previewed a new song live, ‘Come Here’, a soulful rock track that hinted at a new direction she might be taking in the future. She told MTV that she’s been changing her tune a little.
“Some of the stuff on the new album is very singer/songwriter, because I love people like Patty Griffin and Ryan Adams,” she said. “And then there is other stuff that’s real intense rock stuff, more rock than Breakaway. It’s going to be a cool album.”
Don’t be surprised either if you see some interesting Kelly Clarkson collaborations in the future…

“I just ran into the Black Eyed Peas, and I would love to do something with them, that would be cool, just something random,” she said. “I ran into Chris Brown earlier today and he was like, ‘We should do something together.’ I dig him. I like music in general, so I’m always up for anything.”
Also look out for Kelly’s next video hitting you soon - the clip for ‘Walk Away’ was recently shot in LA, and it promises to be a bit different to her other clips.

“The last two were a bit darker, so I decided to write a happier treatment,” she said. “I usually tell the story, like with ‘Hazel Eyes’ and the same with ‘Because of You,’ but this one we wanted to make a bit more fun. I don’t want to give it away, but it’s a very funny video.”
