LeBlanc’s split from his wife of three years, Melissa, came as a surprise to the public – and to Melissa herself. The trouble started in January when LeBlanc, 38, unexpectedly announced that he was moving out of the Encino, Calif., home he shared with Melissa, 41, and their 2-year-old daughter Marina. “It was very sudden,” Melissa’s longtime friend Kelly Phillips tells PEOPLE. “She was absolutely blindsided by what transpired.”

Then in March, Melissa accused her husband of being involved with another woman. LeBlanc, who had moved into an L.A. apartment near the studio where he tapes Joey, admitted he was. Still, friends say, Melissa hoped for a reconciliation – and was stunned when, on March 30, an attorney for her husband called with the news that LeBlanc was about to file for divorce.

“She wanted to do counseling or therapy,” a pal tells PEOPLE. “But Matt just didn’t want to work it out.” After the divorce announcement was made, LeBlanc even brought the Wisconsin-born Anders – who recently shot a pilot for Friends producer David Crane – to the ranch house north of Los Angeles that he and Melissa had shared.

Star Magazine is reporting that, Katie Holmes may not have freedom to scream while giving birth, but she will have soothing music, cardboard signs and a specially crafted adult “shriek-reducing” pacifier to stay calm and silent. Their source reveals, “Tom commissioned an adult-sized ‘binky’ for her to clench between her teeth, hoping that it’ll squelch her screams. In keeping with a Scientology silent birth, Tom is prepared to do whatever it takes to muffle Katie’s moans and groans during the delivery.” Cruise’s publicist Arnold Robinson has dismissed the reports as nonsense. Hollywood couple John Travolta and Kelly Preston have raced to fellow Scientologist Tom Cruise’s support as he and fiancee Katie Holmes plan a controversial silent birth in the coming days.

The heavily pregnant actress plans to adhere to strict Scientology rules and give birth without screaming obscenities or making loud noises. But the Travoltas insist the birthing procedure, which has been mocked in the press over the past few months, isn’t like people think.

Busty US singer-turned-actress Jessica Simpson could be poised to follow in the footsteps of similarly endowed stars Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra by landing a role in Baywatch.

According to reports, the 25-year-old blonde has been singled out by producers making a big-screen version of the cult California lifeguard series, who believe she would be perfect for the role of leading lifeguard.

Apparently, Simpson caught the producers’ eye with her ‘performance’ in the 2005 Hollywood remake of another classic TV series, The Dukes of Hazzard, despite the film being universally panned by critics.

“Jessica really caught the eye in The Dukes of Hazzard film last summer,” a source told the Sun.

“She was the unanimous choice for the Baywatch role. Jessica has all the assets to make Pammy’s part her own.”

No doubt her assets were thought ideal for Baywatch’s legendary title sequence, which features slow-motion shots of the lifeguard team jogging along the beach.

As well as harnessing the Texan blonde’s considerable assets, the producers are also reportedly hopeful that Baywatch original and cult legend David Hasselhoff will also appear in the film, reprising the role of Mitch Buchannon that helped catapult him to international stardom.

Film star Jessica Alba forgave Playboy magazine on Tuesday for making her an unwitting cover girl after founder Hugh Hefner sent the actress a personal apology and pledged to donate money to her favorite charities.

Alba had threatened to sue Playboy after the men’s magazine printed a photo of the bikini-clad actress from her 2005 movie “Into the Blue” on the cover of its March issue — which she said duped readers into thinking she was nude inside.

“In light of Mr. Hefner’s personal apology for Playboy’s unauthorized use of my photo on their cover, I have decided to discontinue my claims against them,” Alba, 24, said in a written statement.

“This was never about money, it was about setting the record straight about something that was done without my knowledge or consent,” she added.

Eva Longoria is determined to romance Michael Douglas… on her hit TV show ‘Desperate Housewives’.

The brunette beauty - who stars alongside the 61-year-old Hollywood legend in new movie ‘The Sentinel’ - is keen to work with the actor again and thinks he would be perfect for the show.

She said: “He could play my older lover.”

Longoria plays a gun-toting Secret Service agent in the upcoming crime drama and co-star Douglas has revealed the stunning actress was the best shot out of the two.

He said: “The FBI, Secret Service, and state police all said that she probably shot better than 90 per cent of the police officers in the country.”

Longoria has lifted the lid on the secret behind her gun-wielding skills.

She is quoted on website Premiere.com as saying: “I’m from Texas, so I’ve been shooting a gun since I was six. It was fun, though, because I don’t get to do that on ‘Desperate Housewives’.”
